2002 PVAF FUNDRAISING SUCCESS: NEW CORPORATE DONATION OF RS 300,000 IS A MAJOR BOOST TO GUJARAAT EDUCATION PROGRAM NOW TOTALING RS 941,000
Posted by Champaklal Dajibhai Mistry on February 16, 2002

While shree chandrakant dahyabhai lad of Calgary, Canada is on PVAF yaatraa to listen to  gujaraat prajaapatio this week, PVAF is proud to announce this news. This news should be a boost to all those prajaapatio who are working so hard and struggling continuously for generations to provide education to their families and samaajo. Starting in the new year 2002 with legal registration of PVAF, a fundraising drive in the business community of Alberta, Canada for Gujaraat Education Program was started by PVAF volunteers in Alberta.

PVAF is proud to announced that firm pledges for CAN$10,000 (Canadian Ten thousand dollars) has been received to date from the business community in Alberta. A number of other donation pledges are in the making.....and we pray that they will materialize.....

As per the information from various prajaapati samaajo outside bhaarat (India), this corporate fund-raising drive by PVAF is the first one in the history of prajaapatio. Historically prajaapatio outside bhaarat have fund-raised among themselves. At the same time, these prajaapatio have always contributed and continues to contribute their share to the communities they live in the world outside gujaraat

This corporate pledge brings the total funds allocated by PVAF to Gujarat Education Program to Rs. 941,000 (9 laakh 41,000 rupees) in the last 2 years. This is another PVAF baby step which gets PVAF closer to its dream of having a Rs 1 Karor (Rs 10,000,000) in Gujarat Education Fund every year. The entire funds will be used to award financial assistance to educate students from primary to university levels every year to prajaapatio who cannot afford education due to life barriers. The most common life barrier observed is poverty continuing from generations to generations. And this poverty appears to afflict an undesirable high percentage in the prajaapatio samaajo in gujaraat.

Some backgrounder on the education status of prajaapatio in gujaraat is in the main story......COMMENTS AND PARTICIPATION in the PVA EDUCATION PROGRAM is prayed for from one and all......

PVAF has conducted a quick survey of gujaraat prajaapatio through talks with peoples who have recently immigrated to Canada, USA and UK. This survey revealed the following of prajaapatio in gujaraat:

1.    Vast majority of prajaapatio in gujaraat are in the districts of surat, navasaari and valsaad. There are prajaapatio also in shauraashtra.

2.    Vast majority of the prajaapatio are workers in non-knowledge based businesses and industries. This non-knowledge based businesses and industries are the least paying in the gujaraat economy. This in turn keeps these prajaapatio in poverty or on the brink of poverty.

3.    The reason for the above status appears to be historical. It appears that prajaapatio historically had been in farming and skills trades such as pottery and building construction. Farming provided food for the family only. Skills trades brought in money for the rest of the life needs.

Farming is now nearly extinct with the move from villages to towns and cities. Skilled trade has evolved from teaching and learning trades from father to son to formal education in schools, colleges and universities. But for reasons to be yet found out, prajaapatio have not been able to have this formal education to acquire skills required in the current commerce and economy.

PVAF is presently researching as to the reasons for this to happen among prajaapatio which puts them at dis-advantage with the rest of the peoples in gujaraat.

The above is the primary reason why PVAF has embarked upon its primary activity - the program to empower prajaapatio to get EDUCATION . And this is the prime purpose of shree chandrakant's present PVAF yaatraa in gujaraat - to find out what and how education can be provided to each and every prajaapati in gujaraat......

PVAF WELCOMES COMMENTS AND MORE INFORMATION ON THIS TOPIC FROM ONE AND ALL AROUND THE WORLD........YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS PVAF EDUCATION PROGRAM IS EVEN MORE VITAL .....
