Smoking has existed since times immemorial.....but smoking in most
civilizations was a very socially controlled and regulated
karma...to prevent causing any measurable ill affects on
health and living environment.....
....then smoking became a big money business the current world....greed of
making money kicked in...and business found a perpetual cash cow by making
smoking an addiction....and the profits have been exorbitant....but with a
major social cost that is just being discovered....
...this greed is defined as a paap
(sin) and thus not a dharmik karma in
a just society. ....and as per
the karma theory when one does not
live by dharma, appropriate
punishment is meted out by dharma to
sustain creation in a healthy state..
..now we see the punishment of not upholding the dharma
in the entire episode of smoking:
- ...the smokers do not follow dharma in the practice of smoking by smoking
at free-will and without consciously of giving consideration of age, place,
the amount of smoking, the content of smoking..
- ...and the result in society is all kinds of ailments from cancer to
asthma to imposing on others the ailments of smoke through second hand
smoke....
- ....smoking per se and especially with the corrupted tobacco is even
endangering the lives of our future generations right from the time of
conception in the womb....and then continue to grow in a progressively
"damaging" mode by breathing in smoke in the modern air tight
houses of the western world .....
- ....and for businesses who kept on tempering with the good old plain smoke
of tobacco leaves by corrupting the contents of smoke material with
chemicals the payback is yet to come in addition to the class action law
suits...
