GUJARAT QUAKE: EQUIVALENT TO 300 ATOMIC BOMBS OF HIROSHIMA TYPE

The January 8, 2001 quake centred on Bhuj produced destructive energy equivalent to 300 times of the atomic bomb(15,000 tons of TNT) dropped on Hiroshima, Japan by USA during the second world war.
In the last 24 hours, 7 aftershocks were experienced in the area with intensity of 3 to 4 on Richter scale. |
