MOTHER NATURE TOOK 180 YEARS TO HEAVE AGAIN IN KUTCH

| The January 26th 2001 quake in Kutch was as a result of a previous quake about 180 years ago as per Dr. J.G Negi, an eminent Indain geophysict. As per Dr. Negi, the previous qauke in Kutch on June 16, 1819 measuring 7.9 on Richter scale had sumberged 5000 sq.km area and raised 1500 sq.km area. This type of upheal changed the earth structure to a depth of about 20 km resulting in build up and storing of energy over 180 years ultimatley triggering the Bhuj quake. The focus of the Bhuj quake was located 20 km below the earth and the energy envelope extended to Delhi, Aravali Ridge and Gulf of Kutch. The energy envelope was estimated at about 4.5 cubic kilometers. The warning of the Bhuj quake was given on December 26, 1999 with precurser tremor of 4.2. |
