DAY 13: GUJARAT QUAKE: 150000 INJURED & DEBRIS CLEARING NEARLY COMPLETE

The latest count estimated the death toll at over 30,000 and injured at over 150,000 in the Gujarat quake. 5 million children are estimated to be affected by the quake.

Power has been restored to 885 out of 925 villages that were blacked out becuase of the quake.

95 percent of the victims buried under the rubble have been retrieved as the debris clearing has been just about completed in major urban and rural areas.

Temporary accomodatons have been provided to all people affected.

Shops have opened after the twelve days of customary mourning for the victims.

Gujarat government has started a food-for-work programs for the people affected by the quake.
