news that living cells continuously broadcast sounds which states the status of

Jim Gimzewski, a chemist at the University of California-Los Angeles,
is founder of the study of sounds that living cells make. He calls the field
"sonocytology" says:
- In recent experiments using the frontier science of nanotechnology,
researchers have found evidence that yeast cells give off one kind of squeal
while mammalian cells may give off another. . . .
- Some day, listening to the sounds your cells make might tell a doctor,
before symptoms occur, whether you're healthy or about to become ill. . . .
- The frequency of the yeast cells the researchers tested has always been
in the same high range of an average of 1,000 cycles per second.
- Sprinkling alcohol on a yeast cell to kill it raises the pitch, while
dead cells give off a low, rumbling sound."
