MEDICAL WARNING:
50 PERCENT RECALLS ON
LASER EYE SURGERY IN HUMID CLIMATES....
Dr. Keith Walter, assistant professor of ophthalmology at Wake Forest
Research in North Carolina, USA published his results in the Journal of Cataract
and Refractive Surgery:
- The hotter and more humid it is when patients get laser surgery to correct
poor vision, the more likely they are to need fine-tuning;
- 50 per cent of eyes need a follow-up procedure compared in wet and humid
months compared to none in drier winter months;
- The extra moisture in the air may reduce the laser energy absorbed by the
cornea, which is reshaped during the procedure.
