(Sanskrit words are in italics. English equivalent of
Sanskrit language is very difficult as a lot of Vedic science and words do
not exist in the European languages in a word form. A glossary of Sanskrit words
is being prepared to be posted on this web site soon for the understanding of
the readers who do not know Sanskrit or its derivative languages in use in
present day India)
OM....THIS KNOWLEDGE, VED, IS FROM PARA-BRHMAH
AS RECEIVED, PRESERVED AND TRANSMITTED TO THIS SHRUSTI BY DEVO AND
RISHIO WHO ARE ETERNALLY SERVING THROUGH THIS MAHA-KALPA.
THEREFORE WE PRAY TO THEM TO BESTOW THEIR GRACES ON US FOR US TO LEARN,
UNDERSTAND AND PRACTICE VED TO WALK WITH FULFILLMENT THE LIFE PATH WE
CHOOSE ...OM TAT SAT........
In science of Ved which explains creation, Vishnu is sleeping on the
bed of coils of serpent Anant during the pralay of a kalpa.
Pralay is the time when all
creation is dissolved back into its creator, Brhmaa and stays dissolved for 4.32 billion
years. A kalpa is a time duration of 4.32 billion years also called a Brhmaa's
day in which creation exists. A Brhmaa's night of another kalpa
of 4.32
billion years in which the creation remains dissolved in Brhmaa..
At the
start of a kalpa of creation a lotus is born out of the navel of Vishnu and
Brhmaa is born in the lotus. Brhmaa is instructed by Para-Brhmah
to create all
the worlds Para-Brhmaa wishes to be created. Para-Brhmah is an entity without
any form containing all the gnan (knowledge) and shakti (energy) required to create, sustain and
dissolve all the worlds created. Para-Brhmah's creative energy is called Maha-maya.
Maha-maya is activated to create, sustain and dissolve all creations
by the chaitaniya of Para-Brhmah. Chaitaniya is the
shakti of Para-Brhmah which
makes everything in a creation mobile and animate. Maya-maya is the
supreme causal agent of Para-Brhmah assigned to give all the gnan
and shakti to each particle of creation to co-exist with the rest of the
creation.
After Brhmaa-dev is born, he is given energy which is called shakti
in Ved. The
name of the shakti given to Brhmaa is Sarasvati. Through
Sarasvati, Brhmaa gets gnan to create all that is wished by Para-Brhmah.
During his
creating of the worlds, Brhmaa was angered at some of his creations for not
furthering their progeny. Out of this anger was born Rudra commonly known
as Shiv.
Shiv-dev was
assigned a shakti called Parvati by Maha-maya. Shiv-dev
has been assigned to perform the main task
of dissolution of the creation at the time of pralay. Shiv-dev is also
depended on to remove obstacles of any kind which occurs in the creation to
hinder the sustainance of the creation. Vishnu-dev wakes up from his slumber
effected by yog-nindra when Brhmaa-dev starts creating and is given by
Maha-maya the shakti called Laxmi or
Shri. Vishnu-dev is assigned by Para-Brhmah to sustain the creation
which has been created by Brhmaa.
Parvati who is the shakti of Shiv-bhagvan takes on a female form and becomes his wife.
Shiv-bhagvan also has another wife called Ganga. Shiv-bhagvan resides on top of
Mahameru
mountain. Shiv-bhagvan and Parvati-devi have two sons, Subhramanya or
Kartikiya and Ganapati.
Some more sons and daughters are born of him through other women for serving the some
definite purposes in the creation. Some of his other children are Hanuman
and Indrajit (son of Ravan),
Shiv-bhagvan has incarnations to serve some definite purposes in the creation. Each
incarnation has partial shakti of Shiv-bhagvan. Some of these incarnations are
Durvas-muni,
some of the Vanaro (monkeys who made up the army of Shri Ram when he invaded
Lankaa of Ravan), Sakti who was born as son to Vashistha-muni, and
Varun-dev (the deity of oceans).
Shiv-bhagvan is said to be very easy to propitiate through bhakti
(devotion) and tapa (penance) and easily once propitiated grants
boons desired by his bhakto (devotees).
Shiv-bhagvan is famous for saving creations from destruction as told in
puranic
literature. Shiv-bhagvan helps all the 33 crore (330 million) devo
(deities with shakti to sustain and make creation function) when they get attacked by
asurao.
Shiv-bhagvan is also famous for his anger. When angry he is reputed to have burned any one who
makes him angry with his third eye. When angered, he is also reputed to
fight till pacified or till the other party is vanquished or destroyed.. Major examples of his anger and saving incidents are his clash with
Vishnu, burning of Kam-dev, consuming Kalakut poison when the ocean of milk was
churned, destruction of Daksha Prajapati's (his father-in-law) yagna, burning of
cities Tripura of asurao, fight with Surya-dev, making of five
Paandav from five Indra-devo, fights with Mahasura and Vrtrasura.
