Pranam Champakji,
Hello, generally during shraddha all new undertakings or auspicious things are
prohibited, does this apply to conceiving of a child also?
My question is pertaining to the period of 15 days which is called shraddha,
in this year it starts from 28th or 29th of this month, if parents want to
conceive children, does shastra prohibit them to conceive children in this
period. Because during shraddha usually people are told not to start anything
new.
By shraddha i mean not only this whole 15 days ,but also specifics days of
father or father in law.
pRANaam PVAF visitor:
Please visit the following veda page on the PVAF
web site for knowing what a person does and does do as ordained and prescribed
by veda and shaastra:
As you will read on the above page one of the
activities prohibited is:
- having sex on the day previous to the day of
offering SHRaaDHDH and also on the day of offering SHRaaDHDH by the person who
are offering shraadh and
- the same rule is to be followed by the
persons who are participating in offering SHRaaDHDH.
- the paap (sin) incurred by those who would
have sex on both the days as indicated above is equivalent to bRHm-htyaa
meaning killing of a braahman.
And the above applies to offering SHRaaDHDH for a father
or father-in-law......The above rules tells us that one should not attempt
conceiving if one is offering SHRaaDHDH - on the day of offering and also on the
day previous to the offering......
If one is not offering any SHRaaDHDH during the
15 days of both sud and vad of bhaadarvo month then one should not worry about
the above rule....The offering of SHRaaDHDH on
each of the fifteen days to various persons is outlined in the following PVAF
veda web page:
A general rule
from the above would be:
- during
the vad (dark fortnight) 15
days of bhaadarvo month then one should not plan to conceive during those 15
days starting from the last day of the previous fortnight....and
- if one is targeting specific to one's death
anniversary of father or grandfather then one should not plan to conceive on
the day prior to and on the day of offering SHRaaDHDH on the death
anniversary....
Please visit the other articles on SHRaaDHDH on
the veda page of PVAF web site which are under the following title and at the
following address:
Rites and Rituals: Vedik prescription to keep the
mutually beneficial interrelation of gods and humans going
I trust the above answers your basic
question...if you still have more questions please feel free to ask.....
nmskaar and pray bhagvaan will guide you and
inspire you to live by the rules of veda and shaastra and also guide you and
inspire you to inspire others to do same in
this kli-yug when most humans do not make efforts to live by DHARm and thus
suffer the pain of apuANy way of life .....
