ABOUT GUJARAT AND GUJARATI PEOPLES
Gujarati people
are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group that is traditionally Gujarati-speaking and can trace their ancestry to the state of Gujarat in northwestern India. Famous Gujarati include Mohandas Gandhi, Mohammad Ali Jinnah (father of Pakistan), and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (a political and social leader of India and colleague of Mahatma Gandhi)  who played a major role in the India's struggle for independence from 250-year British plundering of India and guided its integration into a united, independent nation. He was called the "Iron Man Of India")....

...ALBERTA GUJARATI ASSOCIATION HOSTS
THE 2010 RAAS GARBA FESTIVAL
IN EDMONTON, ABLERTA, CANADA
OON SEPTEMBER 3-5, 2010..
Edmonton 2010 Raas Garba Festival will bring together Gujarati from Western Canadian cities and the Edmonton community at large this summer. As the main event, the Raas Garba competition promises to be full of energy, creative imagination and talent of Gujarati youth and a celebration of their heritage. Winners will be announced and recognized during an awards dinner later the same evening. Other activities during the festival will include practice recitals, social and cultural events, games and health seminar.

This festival has previously been held successfully in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Raas Garba is a form of dance, similar to Western folk dance that originated in the western state of Gujarat, India. Many traditional garbas are performed in a circle around a central lit lamp in an earthen pot, signifying the Almighty pervading the Universe and powering the circle of life. People dance around the center, bending sideways at every step, their arms making sweeping gestures, each movement ending in a clap. Modern garba is also heavily influenced by Dandiya Raas, a dance traditionally performed by men. The merger of these two dances has formed the high-energy dance that is seen today. Ancient Lothal as envisaged by the Archaeological Survey of India.. The findings consist of a mound, a township, a marketplace and the dock.
Lothal is one of the most prominent cities of the ancient Indus valley civilization. Located in Bhal region of the modern state of Gujarat and dating from 2400 BCE. Lothal's dock—the world's earliest known—connected the city to an ancient course of the Sabarmati river on the trade route between Harappan cities in Sindh and the peninsula of Saurashtra when the surrounding Kutch desert of today was a part of the Arabian Sea. It was a vital and thriving trade centre in ancient times, with its trade of beads, gems and valuable ornaments reaching the far corners of West Asia and Africa.

ABOUT ALBERTA GUJARATI ASSOCIATION IN EDMONTON r />
Canada Day Picture
(Photos from AGA Website)

The Alberta Gujarati Association, AGA, was started in 1970 and registered as a non-profit Society under Alberta Society Act in 1978 by a group of immigrants in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada that came from Gujarat, India. While looking for a way to connect with other newly arrived Gujarati people, AGA introduced festivities, cultural programs, events and more that the people of Gujarat were accustomed to back home.  AGA has a current membership of over 400 families. The distinctiveness of AGA is Gujarati culture which has been identified to have existed during the Indus valley civilization which is the currently the oldest known civilization on this planet Earth. The current archeological finds dates Indus valley civilization to be over 10,000 years old. Indus Valley Civilization and Harappan Civilization was very probably evolved in science, industry, commerce, arts, life philosophy and metaphysical sciences more than the current state of evolution of current humankind civilizations.

AAAGA provides to its membership social, educational and sports program for Gujarati festivals such navaraatri, diwali, tulsi vivaah, jalaraam jayanti, gujaraati language learning classes, music learning and practices, seniors gatherings, sports events including a gujaraat Cricket Club, devotional activities through Shakti Satsung Mandal, mentoring to new gujaraati immigrants, social assistance to membership families in distress and mentoring to member students.

AGA participates and delivers social services to mainstream Edmonton communities and events such as Klondike days, Heritage festival, Canada Day Celebrations, International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination and other community events and fund-raising for world events such as Gujaraat Earthquake. br />
AGA has a long-term plan in place to build its own centre called strong> Mahatma Gandhi Centre, a "Gujarati Home Away From Home" for 365/24 day to day living of Gujarati lifestyle by preserving and fostering gujaraati legacy in this twenty-first century and the third millennium.

MONDAY MUSE: CREATE YOUR LUCK
Dynamic personalities do not bother too much about luck… they create their own “luck”!.... .

.......So often we pray for Good fortune to eclipse our Bad Luck…
But to BE BETTER at scripting our destiny… ......

Once, an old farmer’s old horse ran off into the hills. When, his neighbours sympathised with him over his bad luck, the farmer replied, 'Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?'

A week later the horse returned with an imposing wild horse from the hills and this time the neighbours congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, 'Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?'

The farmer's son fell off and broke his leg while attempting to tame the wild horse. Everyone thought this to be bad luck. But the farmer maintained the same reaction, 'Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?'

A week later the army marched into the village and forcefully enlisted every able-bodied youth. However they let off the farmer's son due to his broken leg.

Luck is said to be good if things go our way and bad if things go astray. But what seems good luck may actually turn bad and vice versa as well.

So often, we hurry to attribute our so-called-luck to ridiculous reasoning.

In fact, superstition arises from beliefs in luck being controlled by unseen forces, magical rituals and bizarre behaviour.

Obviously, people who believe in luck tend to disconnect with pluck!

People who can be described retrospectively as “lucky” actually generate their own success via the following tactics:

-    They develop proactive skills to notice and create ‘chance’ opportunities.

-    They make prudent decisions using imagination as intuition. They create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations.

-    They adopt a resilient logical attitude to transform so called bad luck into good.

-     Dynamic personalities do not bother too much about luck… they create their own “luck”!

So often we pray for Good fortune to eclipse our Bad Luck…

But to BE BETTER at scripting our destiny, let’s hold on to pluck!

SHOKING MONEY NEWS.....World has 10 million "millionaires" among 6 billion humans = 0.16% of world population??!!....WHAT'S WRONG?!
Posted by Champaklal Dajibhai Mistry on September 2, 2010 | 0 Comments

....GOOD, BAD & UGLY FACES OF WEALTH...

The "World Wealth Report"
is a report on individuals with a net worth of at least
$1 million in all assets except their primary residence.

The report is compiled annually by Capgemini for Merrill Lynch.

....THE "WORLD WEALTH REPORT" HILITES....

High net worth individuals are defined as those with over $1-million (U.S.) in investable assets and financial services firms from around the globe.

The number of high-net-worth individuals in the world grew by 17.1% in 2009
(where was the recession in the life of these peoples), to 10 million. The combined wealth of those individuals rose by 18.9% (how can one make so much money in a world recession )to an estimated $39-trillion.

The U.S., Japan, and Germany account for 53.5% of the world's high-net-worth population (although their combined population is a small fraction of the world population).

......COMPARE THE INDIVIDUAL HIGH NET WORTH TO

THE NET WORTH OF THE WORLD.....

And you will start wondering

why half of the peoples on this planet earth

are living hand to mouth daily and/or

get only one meal a day.....

From  GetMoneyEnergy web site: The entire world officially owes itself more money than it can produce in the form of equity assets. Of course, the calculation might be meaningless, since the numbers are an aggregate of the nations involved, and it doesn’t make sense to imagine the world not being able to pay itself back. But it’s still a thought-provoking state of affairs.

According to a recent report in the Financial Post on the precarious pressure-cooker that is the current bond market, total world debt in the form of bonds is equivalent to about $82 trillion dollars USD. The number nearly tripled since 2001 (when it was only $33 trillion U.S.). Compare total debt with total assets: the total value of world equity markets amount to only $44 trillion dollars in USD equivalent.

The world thus has a negative net worth of about -$38 trillion measured in USD.

I’m not too sure what exactly this indicates, other than, perhaps, the amount of inflation ready to leak into the global system.
All these bonds are so much money “printed.” Most of it belongs to the United States, as we all know. Greece is barely a pebble on the beach.

....WHY PVAF IS PUBLISHING TODAY'S NEWS STORY...
(The following write-up and comments in smaller fonts in this news story and the entire news story has been compiled and contributed by Champaklal Dajibhai Mistry of Edmonton, Canada, who in 1999 pioneered the PVAF program "Remove Poverty Through Education".....based on his life education and life experience gained and through his consulting business in which he has worked for about 40 years as a business owner, Professional Engineer and Project Manager representing Project Owners on many community development programs to remove poverty through community infrastructure development revolving around life education in Africa, Ontario and Alberta)

PVAF's primary reason for existence since its self-birth is a hope that one day PVAF can say it tried and tried and tried to remove poverty among earthlings for the next 3 generations of humankind (it takes at least 3 generation to create a social change among humankind)...Poverty afflicting humans are as many and more as there are human tribes on this planet earth...and poverty can be generally classified as whatever created suffering to a human in his/her physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual well-being and welfare of his/her existence in a life-travel.....PVAF has been sharing knowledge on this web site in all these four aspects of human life and overall existence in the grand scheme of all creations in this universe......

This sharing includes the continuing education about the vEDik time era called kli-yug that the current humanity is living in its 5112nd year of its total duration of 432,000 years...with the knowledge that money and women will be the leading agents of societal life making in kli-yug ....and the percentage of humans living by the rules and regulations of DHARm which is 25 at the start of kli-yug will progressively decrease to about 10 percent when kli-yug ends....This 10 percent population will transit into the next vEDik time era called st`y-yug in which 100 percent of the humans will live by the tenets of DHARm decreasing to 75 percent when st`y-yug ends after 1,728,000 years duration....(Please visit "archived" AASHRAM NEWS articles for knowledge about DHARm and also click here for VEDA section of PVAF to read more about vEDik era and other parts of sciences of life and creation collectively called vED in sNskRUt language...and/or email to Champak Mistry by clicking here to discuss any part of this write-up....)

When read together with the above knowledge sharing.....Today's news story hilites the PVAF mandate's seriousness and challenge to be faced in the next 3 generations....The statistics of today's new story is very revealing in the fact:

     - that the most of the wealth in the current world is in the hands of 0.16 % of the total world population....and

     - more scarier fact is that most of the world wealth is also negative asset meaning the net worth of the current world is a debt.....that means it is not the real wealth compared to having hard cold cash or gold or tangible assets which can be converted to cash....

With the above two realities how will ever the majority of the people in the world ever have a chance to be what is currently the golden dream of even being "middle class" peoples who have a comfortable life through a well paying job......

On behalf of PVAF I invite for your comments on today's news story and my brief take above....Just click on the button "POST A COMMENT' in the header of this news and share away...most gladly how the challenge of eliminating poverty among humanity will be overcome....If you wish you can email your sharing for publication on this AASRAM NEWS page by clicking here....

CHILD POVERTY IN WEALTHY CANADA....mainly created by MARRAIGE BREAKUP and LOSS OF JOB....

.....WEALTHY CANADIANS CREATE CHILD POVERTY
BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT
TO STAY MARRIED
AND
CANNOT SAVE FOR JOB LOSS CONTIGENCY.....

......CANADA SUFFERS FROM
RELATIVE CHILD POVERTY
AND
NOT TRUE POVERTY AS DEFINED BELOW...

Poverty is the condition in which a person or community is deprived of or lacks the essentials for a minimum standard of well-being and life.

Since poverty is understood in many senses, these essentials may be material resources such as food, safe drinking water, and shelter, or they may be social resources such as access to information, education, health care, social status, political power, or even the opportunity to develop meaningful connections with other people in society.  This is also referred to as absolute poverty or destitution.

Relative poverty is the condition of having fewer resources or less income than others within a society or country, or compared to worldwide averages and especially in developed countries.

Relative poverty views poverty as socially defined and dependent on social context, hence relative poverty is a measure of income inequality. There are several other different income inequality metrics, for example the Gini coefficient or the Theil Index.

As such these relative poverty statistics measure inequality rather than material deprivation or hardship.

The measurements are usually based on a person's yearly income and frequently take no account of total wealth. The main poverty line used in the OECD and the European Union is based on "economic distance", a level of income set at 60% of the median household income.

....PVAF BASIC HUMAN TAKE ON TODAY'S NEWS STORY....

......with the definition of absolute and relative poverty above....
CANADA CAN EASILY HAVE
ZERO CHILD POVERTY....

 IF EACH CANADIAN FAMILY
VALUES
UPHOLDING BASIC HUMAN DHARm OF
NOT HURTING SELF AND EACH OTHER THROUGH
MIND, SPEECH AND kARm
(basic human behaviour rules in all belief systems)

DUE TO HUMAN WEAKNESSES
CREATED BY LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF
OF UNIVERSAL RULES AND REGULATIONS OF DHARm

PVAF has a primary mandate to empower humanity to get rid of poverty through acquisition of life and creation sciences knowledge for life betterment and gainful employment .....

And with this human welfare mandate PVAF is publishing today this very sad news story about child poverty in Canada because despite Canada being rated the best place to live on this planet Earth  by United Nations for many years now...it has not only child poverty but looming poverty among seniors...simply due to the human fact that in vEDik time era called kli-yug we currently live in....as wealth increases the humans becomes more centered on "me and I" at the expense of his/her fellow humans.....

PVAF has published many news articles regarding this kli-yug (time reckoning in sciences of creation and life called vED) phenomenon in which basic human rights and obligations called DHARm is eroding mainly due to increasing wealth which makes the one with money feel that he/she does not need anything in life other than wealth and wealth can provide all the happiness one wants....

As this is such a human topic where simply a human's lifestyle choice could eliminate poverty.....PVAF invites YOUR take on the above thoughts and also comments on the news article on the next page on the following:

      -    why children are made to suffer by parental choice for lifestyle of disharmony instead of harmonious co-existence;
      -    why Canadians fail to plan for life contingencies such as loss of job or unforeseen financial difficulties...meaning Canadians are living beyond their means and/or living from hand to mouth...
      -    why new immigrants with high levels of educations suffer not only child poverty but poverty of loss of self-esteem and deprivation of right to use their high education

LEADERSHIP:....A SCIENCE AND ART...absolute need for collective humanity to grow & prosper at every level of existence at any time any place....

Clip art of a butterfly and a caterpillar with quote, "A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be."

........"The sooner leaders can
identify and surface problems,
the more likely they can prevent
a major catastrophe......

If leaders spot the threats early,
they have more time to take corrective action.
They can interrupt a chain of events
before it spirals out of control,"

Organizational breakdowns and collapses
don't occur in a flash;
they build over time.

Kimberly-Clark Corp., producer of
the Huggies brand of diapers and related baby-care products,
watched moms and dads struggling to hold their babies
still while reaching for diapers, wipes and articles of clothing in a diaper change.
The result was new packaging for

allowing them to be removed with one hand.......

Through their intuition, nurses sense
a troublesome pattern of signals
and so, time after time, they spot trouble before
a patient's vital signs become abnormal.
So has a leader use intuition.....

Recognize that large-scale failures
are often preceded by small problems
spread over an organization without information sharing system
and go unnoticed by leadership....
The failure of all USA security agencies to share information
prior to the 9/11 attack in USA
is a classic costing dollars 1 trillion and counting..

Leaders need to refine their pattern recognition skills while,
at the same time, being alert to faulty analogies that can lead them astray.

Writes Professor Michael Roberto, Bryant University, USA  in his new book
 Know What You Don't Know

Leadershipspan> is and has been described as:

-     The process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task

-     Leadership is ultimately about creating a way for people to contribute to making something extraordinary happen." -Alan Keith of Genentech

Students of leadership have produced theories involving among others:

    -  function,
    -  behavior,
    -  power,
    -  vision and values,
